On Vacation in California

We are on vacation in California and right now we are staying with Michelle and Daniel in Burlingame, close to San Francisco. Sonja was the perfect traveler on the flights here. She slept the whole time and did not make a peep.

After arriving in Reno on Thursday night we went to Lake Tahoe and went for a hike in Emerald Bay on Friday. We then headed to Sacremento and stayed with Amy and Dave. Dave made some amazing mole tacos that Sonja is still wishing she could have eaten.

On Saturday we worked our way to San Francisco were Sonja got to meet Tesha and Jeremiah. We hung out at Fisherman's Wharf and ate some delicious local seafood. The picture is Sonja trying to eat clam chowder out of a sourdough bread bowl. Formula is getting old.

On Sunday we dressed up in our lederhosen and dirndles and went to Oktoberfest for some German culture. (like we really need anymore) It was a lot of fun but was pretty loud so we took Sonja for a walk along the bay to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

Yesterday, we went up to the Alexander and Russian River valleys for some wine tasting. (and buying) Sonja bought 6 bottles of wine and we are not really sure how she is going to get them home. It was Amy and Dave's second wedding anniversary so we had a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant in Geyserville.

We are planning to head down to Santa Cruz today to explore the coast a little bit. We are only halfway through our vacation so we will write more later.

Cheers,
John
